Build Your Future Today

Start Your Construction Journey

From your first safety course to advanced qualifications, RMDN helps you choose training that fits your work and ambitions. Our training community connects with a network of construction employers around the UK. Build relevant skills, then discuss opportunities that match your qualifications, experience and availability.

Which card fits your role?

Choose a card that reflects your occupation and qualification. We help explain the relevant scheme, required safety test, assessment route, applications and renewals. Course attendance alone does not award a card.

Green & Blue

Green Labourer: the accepted safety qualification and test for labouring work. Blue Skilled Worker: usually a relevant Level 2 NVQ/SVQ or another accepted occupational route. Your issuing scheme confirms eligibility.

Gold: Supervisor

Gold Advanced Craft usually requires a relevant Level 3 qualification. Gold Supervisor is a separate route, normally requiring a relevant supervisory Level 3 or 4 qualification and the appropriate safety test.

Black: Manager

The black Manager route requires an accepted qualification appropriate to your management role. GQA Q-Card guidance lists relevant management NVQs/SVQs at Levels 5, 6 and 7. Accepted routes differ by issuing scheme, so we help you check the right requirements.

CSCS & Safety Training

Start with classroom Level 1 construction health and safety training and preparation for the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test. Build your understanding of site hazards and safe working, with guidance and time to ask questions. We also explain eligible CSCS applications and renewals. The qualification, safety test and card application are separate steps. Tell us about any current card or certificate so we can discuss the route you need.

NVQ Pathways: Levels 2–7

Turn relevant experience into recognised qualifications through approved GQA partner centres. Explore pathways for groundworkers, steel fixers, carpenters, dryliners and window fitters, alongside suitable supervisory and management roles. Levels 2–7 cover different occupations; every trade does not offer every level. Your centre will assess your experience and explain the workplace evidence required. Remote support may be available, while practical competence must still be demonstrated.

NPORS Plant & Traffic Marshal

Train for the work you will actually do. Through approved partners, explore NPORS categories for excavators, dumpers, slinger/signallers, forklifts and telescopic handlers. The route depends on the machine and your experience. Construction red Trained Operator and blue Competent Operator cards have different requirements; the blue route requires a relevant NVQ/SVQ. Traffic marshal training is a separate option for supporting vehicle movements and is distinct from slinger/signaller duties.

SSSTS & SMSTS

SSSTS is a two-day safety course for new and aspiring supervisors, covering risk control, communication and site responsibilities. SMSTS is a five-day course for those managing or preparing to manage construction work, covering safety planning, responsibilities and risk management. Ask about classroom or live remote dates and eligible refreshers. Certificates last five years; refresh before expiry. These courses do not replace an occupational NVQ or automatically qualify you for a CSCS card.

Learn Window Fitting & Curtain Walling From Scratch

Explore introductory window and door installation training through approved GQA partner centres. Start with the principles of the job and discuss available practical learning. The GQA Level 1 Principles qualification is knowledge-based; a Level 2 Fenestration Installation NVQ assesses workplace competence once you have suitable experience and evidence.

We also provide the one-day CAB Curtain Walling Essential Knowledge course, introducing curtain walling systems, how they work and the principles of their construction and installation. This knowledge-based course is suitable for newcomers and experienced installers looking to refresh their understanding. Council for Aluminium in Building. Already fitting windows, doors or curtain walling? Ask about recognising your skills and the relevant qualification routes. Starting out? We can explain the next steps and discuss suitable work opportunities through our employer network.
